A relentless approach to resolve the issue of flow and space planning, subconsciously brought forward intriguing ideas and spatial qualities. This time, we celebrate cracks left behind by the original building, the rot and marks that time, usage and weather leave behind. To discover wabi-sabi is to see the beauty in things that may at first look ugly or unappealing. We experimented with the idea of appreciating "... muted beauty, courage to not fear bareness, willingness to accept things as they are... " The natural shape of the site had us taking a hard stand by shifting the VIP rooms outwards with their own private pathways, whilst the seatings gradually change in ambience, space and seating style towards the center - which are equally important where the kitchen (heart of the restaurant) and sushi counter are. From the perspective of customers, there are at least five possible seating arrangements to choose from depending on occasion or formality.
